Affordable Commercial and Creative Production

Getting a TV Commercial produced can cost a fortune if you choose a company such as Anonymous Content or Saatchi & Saatchi to produce it for you. These companies will generally charge astronomical rates for a :30 second TV ad because they work with unions, celebrity talent, celebrity directors, producers, etc. Not to mention all the special effects.
A recent study by the American Association of Advertising Agencies reveals that Production costs made a considerable jump from 2010 to 2011. In 2011, it would cost an average of $300,000 to create a National TV Ad. This number was based on 10 agencies supplying budgets for over 506 commercials created that year.
As we discussed in a previous post, the trigger in these big-ticket productions come down to celebrity casting and Special Effects. Without those two elements, Commercial Production should not be more than $100,000. This would account for extremely fancy art direction and sets.
Interestingly, the time-frame to complete an ad is also expending. It is taking much longer to finish a commercial than it used to. On average productions take 5% longer to wrap than they did in 2010.
The average cost of $300,000 per commercial shouldn't scare away companies that had tucked away less than $50,000 for Creative Content. There are reliable National Production Companies and Creative Agencies such as Spot On Media that work with a range of Company sizes and budgets while delivering high-end quality.
"Our commercials are shot on the Red Motion Picture camera. We dedicate time to developing the creative, casting the right actors and polishing the end product for all of our clients, big or small," says Producer Shervin Youssefian at Spot On. In 2012, 50% of the TV commercials produced at Spot On fell within the $10,000 and $20,000 range.
How is it possible to pay less and make sure you get all the benefits of a large production company? Find a boutique start-up creative agency with a friendly team that has the capability of working non-union projects and be flexible with rates to create a long-term partnership.

Spot On Media shoots Anti-Bullying PSA with Joey King

On Monday, June 17th, 2013, a treadmill was dismantled and painted chroma key green for the purposes of filming a national anti-bullying PSA called "The Eulogy of Ivy O'Conner" by New York Times best selling author Sophie Jordan.
Shervin Yousefian who directed the TV ad, producer and long-time business partner Danny Simonzad and executive producer David Dginguerian knew the importance of getting a celebrity attached to this important project. "Our goal is to reach all the teens frequenting sites like Youtube, Facebook and other twitter and we needed a recognizable face to make an impression and connect with our audience," said Youssefian.
With the help of casting director Sarah-May Levy, Youssefian and Simonzad approached
Joey King to do the project. "After being on mega-budget productions such as The Dark Knight Rises, Oz the Great and Powerful and the upcoming White House Down, we didn't expect a high level of interest," says Simonzad. Therefore, it came as a very nice surprise when Joey King accepted to join the production to increase awareness about the increasing bullying epidemic in schools and help children protect themselves and others.
Spot On Media filmed the PSA on a green screen set with a black magic camera at a 2.5K resolution. The environment will be entirely recreated as a fictional world where trees move and follow the main character. A technique utilizing voice over and titles will be used which has never been done before. "It was this original idea that jumped off the page and caught my attention and I knew that the story by Sophie Jordan needed to be turned into visuals," explains Youssefian.
The green screen footage has now been turned to the CGI (Computer-generated imagery) artists to work their magic. Stay tuned to see "The Eulogy of Ivy O'Conner."

Spot On Media attends CBA Convention in St. Louis, MO

Shervin Youssefian, writer-director of Crossroad and co-founder of Spot On Media with long-time partner Danny Simonzad attended the annual Christian Retail Show of 2013 with David Dginguerian, executive producer of Crossroad. The event is a 64 year old tradition that has turned into what may be the biggest Christian Convention event of the year.

Youssefian and Dginguerian finally had a chance to meet with Crossroad distributors
including William Schultz of Abridge International who has taken the feature film into
France, Brazil, Australia, the UK and all of Africa. He is currently working on finalizing a deal for Latin America.

Youssefian was a guest at a Seminar on Film Production and Distribution hosted by Visual Story Clyde Taber of Visual Story Network. A Christian based website which equips young filmmakers with tools to create compelling films that communicate a strong message of the gospel.

Amongst the connections made was Karen Kingsbury, a New York Times best selling author who was in attendance to promote her latest book "The Chance." "It would be an amazing feat to turn one of Karen's novels into a feature film. Karen's stories pull at the heart strings and leave a reader inspired. That's what we want to achieve with our films," shared Youssefian.

The convention will continue for the rest of the week.
